Mega Darkrai ex is the star of the set, and the reason everyone wants to open these boxes. The card comes in two premium prints. The Special Illustration Rare shows Darkrai as an eye slowly opening in the dark, one of the most atmospheric cards Pokemon has ever released. It is exactly the kind of chase that carries an entire set: one card that all eyes are on the moment a box is opened.
🎴 What to expect (pull rates)
Because Pitch Black is lean, your odds are more favourable than in a large set. In total there are six Special Illustration Rares, on top of the regular holo rares and ultra rares. Less filler means every pull sits closer to a top card. Concretely, you can expect:
- 118 cards in the base set, with no filler.
- 6 Special Illustration Rares, with Mega Darkrai ex as the absolute chase.
- 2 premium prints of that same Mega Darkrai ex, the most sought-after hits of the set.
